#29ROOMS
#29Rooms was such a cute experience! I’m a frequent reader of Refinery29 {completely obsessed with Money Diaries} and I’m even more of a fan now that I see what #29Rooms was all about.
Each room had it’s own special theme and “reason for being” and I was enthralled the whole time. There were rooms centered around feminism, the glory of black women, money matters, building confidence, voting rights, etc. I loved it! You pay a small fee for a ticket {I believe it was $25 or so} and basically walk around and explore each room. Of course, everything is laid out so that you’ll take as many pics as possible and post them all over social media. I saw some LEWKS in that place, honey! lol A lot of people came with a few friends which I highly recommend so that you’re not alone in the experience and of course, so that you have a photographer {or two} to help you capture each moment. Definitely take your time but don’t go too slow because you might miss something! At the last minute, we walked to a new side of the space that we hadn’t even really noticed before and there were so many cute rooms that we totally missed. By then, it was time to go so we just had to quickly snap a few pics and get going. They book everyone in 3 hour timeslots so it’s important to maximize that time and use it wisely.
The only thing I didn’t like were the lines! There was basically a line to get into every room so a lot of the time there was spent waiting. Hopefully as it gains steam, they’ll extend it for a longer timeframe in each city so that they don’t have to squeeze so many people into each day. Definitely go check it out if it comes to your city! I’d love to hear about what others liked and disliked overall.
As you can see, I wore this outfit for #EssenceStreetStyle and #29Rooms since I did them on the same day. Not gonna lie…for a second I thought about bringing a change of clothes but I’m glad I didn’t bother. It was rainy and gross all day and lugging around extra clothes would’ve just been a hassle. Hope you like the look! Make sure you follow me on IG and check out the videos on my page {@acethelook}. Come back and check out the next post where I’ll detail my experience as a Maid of Honor and share pics from my friend’s wedding! Thanks for stopping by. xoxo - Ash
