It's my birthday!!!! Well, it was Monday, July 9. But of course, I'm looking at the next few weeks as my birthday because let's be honest, birthdays are meant to be CELEBRATED.
I celebrated on the actual day with 10 of my friends and my sister at Suede in East Flatbush, BK. Suede is a black-owned Caribbean restaurant and lounge in the boonies of Brooklyn but it's so good and so cute. I love an aesthetically pleasing restaurant/event space. My friends were all blown that I made them trek to Flatbush but they were all pleasantly surprised when they arrived. ;) We had such a great time. Drinks were flowing, food was tasty and we laughed the night away. Suede actually gives you a free meal on your birthday so that made the deal even sweeter. I'd definitely recommend it to someone looking for a nice place to go for a date, outing with friends or a birthday celebration.
For the look, I wore a new orange striped dress that I snagged from Forever 21 a few weeks ago. Orange used to be my favorite color in school and I think I'm starting to love it all over again. I wore my trusty nude Nine West strappy sandals, Forever 21 tortoise sunglasses and a sparkly gold headband from Francesca's. I love this way this look came together! Very simple and easy but with enough pizazz for the birthday girl. I plan on browsing Forever's site as SOON as that direct deposit hits this week and grabbing a few more of these easy breezy dresses for the summer. NYC is so hot and humid right now so these types of outfits are all I want to wear. How do you usually celebrate your birthday? Do you prefer a big party or a small gathering?
