I won tickets to a private screening!

I usually try to make it a point to attend the events that are thrown by Claire Sulmers of FashionBombDaily. She always brings it! So, when I was checking her personal blog TheBombLife.com recently and saw that she was hosting another installment of #CocktailsWithClaire in conjunction with Ty Hunter, Beyonce's previous stylist, I knew I had to be in the building. This specific event was a private screening at The Crosby Hotel and it was only open to a few tastemakers, stylists and designers but Claire gave a few of her readers the opportunity to enter to win a ticket. Fortunately, I was one of those winners! The event was star studded with people like designer Laquan Smith and journalist/magazine executive Emil Wilbekin in attendance. I just felt blessed to be in the building. After the film, Ty and Claire discussed the fashionable cast and Ty gave us a little insight into what it's like to actually attend the real Met Gala (where he dressed Bey for several years). So cool!

Now, on to the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the girl power and the star-studded cast didn't disappoint. I've seen some reviews that weren't positive but I didn't expect the movie to be some Oscar-worthy masterpiece. It was fun! That's all I wanted from them. The fashion was also amazing. As you may know, the movie is based around a group of female criminals that join together to rob someone/something during fashion's biggest night. So, naturally, the main scenes were shot at a pseudo Met Gala which was heavily laden with celebrities and famous fashionistas alike. I've included a photo of the gala costumes for the main characters (source: Racked.com) so you can get a sneak peek of the opulence.

The theme of the screening was also Met Gala Glam so I wore a deep green slip dress from Banana Republic, feather shrug (gifted by my mom), statement earrings from Missguided and simple black sandals from Zara. What do you think of this look? It came together at the last minute and I was really happy with it! And the best part is that the dress was only $22 WHOLE DOLLARS from Banana. It was deeply discounted and I honestly can't wait to wear it again. Hopefully someone will invite me to something else fancy soon. ;) Thanks for stopping by.
