So, I went on a radio show once and now I think I’m hooked.
My friend Phil has a show called #PhilAndFriends on WHCR 90.3 FM (every Sunday from 12-1pm EST!) and he asked us to come on and chat. My girl Marinda joined me and we had so much fun! For a jampacked hour, we talked about relationships, dating in the city, being black in corporate America, the Marketing industry and our passion for fashion. Marinda and I have a lot in common since we both work in the industry and love fashion, events in the city, etc. so I think we were the perfect pair! My cousin and sister both told me later that they thought we complemented and played off of each other really well. The discussion was a lively one with callers asking questions ranging from our dating preferences to how we handle a side hustle in the midst of a full-time job (that one was specifically for me since I consider the blog/styling my side job). Not to toot our horns but Phil said it’s the best feedback he’s gotten on a show so far! (lmao, can you tell I’m hype?)
We’ll likely go back on the show in the summer so I’ll be sure to alert the masses ahead of time. I’m waiting on him to send me the audio so I can hear everything and gauge how many times I cringe at hearing my manly voice lol. I’m really looking forward to going back and enjoying another lively conversation with Phil on air. He’s one of those people that was made to perform. He’s naturally hilarious and does a great job carrying the convo without it getting stale or boring. He was also working all the dials on the board and answering the phone in the midst of chatting with us. Amazing! All of that to say that I think my friends are really dope. ;) I surround myself with people that are ambitious and tenacious and have talent coming out of their ears. I’m so grateful for this tribe that we’ve built in NYC and I honestly don’t know what I would do without these people! It’s really nice to know you have a group of people ready to party or listen or drink or commiserate about life’s misfortunes at the drop of a dime…whatever mood you’re in, there’s somebody to call to join in on the fun. Ha.
So, about the look. I’ve been really into graphic tees lately — buying them up at every turn. I spotted this Tupac shirt on PrettyLittleThing and had to have it. The pants and jacket are FashionNova and the boots are Public Desire. Also, I love these shades. I didn’t really have any simple, chic black sunglasses that would go with everything and I lucked up on this pair from Windsor. Then, I went to DC a few weekends ago and left them in an Uber (along with another brown pair that I got from a street vendor). I WAS PISSED. And SN: we reached out to the Uber driver via the app and he didn’t even respond. -_- Anyway, I liked them so much that I repurchased them as soon as I got home. Hopefully, I can hang on to this pair. And if not, I’ll just buy them again because they were only $15 and I’m OD. lol
What do you think of this look? Let me know in the comments below! xoxo - Ashley
