BEACH BUM

There's nothing that makes me happier than water. I love pools, I love the beach, I love riding on boats, I love jet skis. All of it. Give me all of it. 

I'm a true Cancer and have been a water baby since I was a kid. NYC actually has pretty decent beaches which I had no idea about before I moved here. My friends and I went to Rockaway Beach last weekend and I had such a great time. Unfortunately, the sun does not love my skin as much as I love the sun because my entire top half now feels like a reptile. :-| But, the mild heat rash is worth it to me. I'll definitely be back at the beach before this summer ends. Mark my words! For the day, I wore an old pseudo leopard print bikini in hot pink. It's from Victoria's Secret and it made me realize I haven't checked their site in ages! I'll definitely be browsing for more cute suits soon. I threw an H&M kimono on top and added this beautiful beaded choker that my sister picked up in Cancun on vacation. She always brings me the most amazing pieces of jewelry from her annual beach excursions. She gave me this one for my birthday and I couldn't wait to wear it. 

Funny story. I knew I wanted to get some good pics at the beach so I put on a little makeup (not much, I didn't want it all running down my face) and I had on my jewelry that I planned on taking off after snapping pictures. These other girls were perched not too far from our spot and my friend and I both heard them saying stuff like "I mean, who wears a whole 'beat' face to the beach? Why wear all your jewelry just for this?" UMMMM....ma'am(s). WHY are you worried about my lipstick and earrings right now? Like, why on earth would that be bothering you? I was so annoyed until my other friend came and told us not to give the haters any energy. She was right. I finally shrugged it off and kept enjoying my time in the sun. But before that, I took these pics and had a whole faux photoshoot to silence the haters. HA! Take my advice: twirl on, ladies. xo - Ash
