BRING BACK THE '90s

Or maybe I should say 80s? These bike shorts were all the rage back in the day and they’ve come back with a vengeance…

I made a joke on IG/FB when I posted these pics about calling my mom to tell her they were back in style bc she is OBSESSED with biking shorts and has always been obsessed lol. She’s loved them for as long as I can remember. Nowadays, people are pairing them with dressy/casual looks instead of just sweatshirts and sneakers. So, I thought I’d order a pair and try them on for size. I like the way the look came together! Very unlike me but fashion is about doing things you’ve never done before. My personal style is constantly evolving and I like to think that with the addition of a few trends here and there, it’s up-to-date and current with a modern/fresh feeling.

With that in mind, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite trends that are reminiscent of years (and decades) past.

  1. NEON. Omg I love neon so much!! I’ve always loved it so this trend has been a mainstay for me. I’ve always thought really bright, vibrant colors look great on brown skin.

  2. Belt bags/fanny packs. Tbh, I haven’t jumped on this bandwagon yet. The over-the-shoulder fanny pack thing got SO played out last year so I was hesitant to buy one. I do really like belt bags though so I’ll probably get one this summer. Something cheap so I won’t care too much when they go out of style.

  3. Logomania. I thoroughly enjoy the heavy logo styles. A statement logo tee or dress with a simple white sneaker or strappy sandal is such a cute laid back look. Def will be jumping on this bandwagon soon.

  4. Dad sneakers. I’m actually not sure if this was ever a trend in the past but I just have to go on record saying I HATE IT. So. very. much. Will not ever be purchasing a pair of orthopedic looking kicks to rock with an oversized logo tee and an over-the-shoulder fanny pack a la every Influencer and social media star on Instagram. Not happening.

  5. The resurgence of old brands. FILA, Champion, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Baby Phat (!), etc. are all making a comeback in a BIG way. I’m here for it. No issues there.

The saying “everything old is new again” is so very valid in fashion. Don’t throw your goodies and treasures away. They’ll likely be back around to greet you in another 10 years or so. This topic really makes me want to get back into thrifting too. I used to thrift in college a bit and I haven’t really done it since. Some of my fav bloggers are so good at it! I’ll have to check their pages for some tips.

What are your favorite trends this season? Anything you wish would’ve stayed in the past? Sound off in the comments below! Thanks for checking the blog today. xoxo - Ashley
